A volunteer Board of Directors made up of outstanding community volunteers from Chapters across the country governs National Charity League, Inc.

Ellen Saliba - President 2011-2013 The Stanford Hills Chapter (Region IV, District 2) proudly claims Ellen as a Sustainer member where she served as the Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer in addition to serving as a District Finance Specialist and the Expansion Finance Specialist. Ellen has ably served as the NCL, Inc. Board of Directors Treasurer for the past three years where she chaired the Budget & Finance Committee while also serving on the Executive Committee. Ellen is involved in her community as a member of the Citizen’s Financial Advisory Committee reviewing the City’s annual audit and investment policy and is also involved in a city-sponsored grant writing training program. She was instrumental in developing an economic feasibility study for an After School Enrichment program, assumed financial responsibilities for the 2007 high school graduation night, and raised over $15,000 for high school athletic teams through her local athletic booster club. Ellen has served her alma mater, Babson College, as a Trustee. Professionally, Ellen has been an independent consultant for over 12 years in the areas of finance, operations management and financial system implementation. Her projects have included budgeting and planning, payroll implementation, policy and procedure development and product cost analysis. Ellen is excited to lead our national organization in its quest to be the premier mother daughter organization!

Lenora Stewart - Past President 2011-2012 Lenora hails from the Whittier Chapter, where she served as Corresponding Secretary, Grade Level Advisor, Parliamentarian, Membership Vice President, President-Elect and President. She later became a member of the District 4 Council as its Ways and Means Specialist and its Philanthropy Specialist. Lenora is currently NCL's National Past President, having also completed positions as Parliamentarian, Ways and Means Vice President and Philanthropy Vice President. She has served on the Convention Committee and as Chairman of the Audit Committee. Lenora has a multi-faceted professional background. She has over 15 years experience in event planning, business management, fundraising and public affairs. She recently assisted a small business owner in the successful completion of a management training course, development of operational processes and publicity materials focused on expansion of customer base. She is currently the owner/designer of Francois Stewart Designs, specializing in the design and execution of original crochet and knit accessory items. In 2007, the iTunes Podcast Yarns from the Southland focused on creative work with yarn by Lenora. Publication is forthcoming in 2008 of 'Post Modern Purse,' a design pattern to be featured in Crochet magazine. Lenora has shared her skills with her community, serving on the Board of Directors of Whittier Historical Society as Secretary and Exhibit Chairman, and on the Grant Advisory Board of the Whittier History Preservation Project. Under her leadership, the Boys and Girls Club of Whittier auction proceeds grew from $80,000 to $150,000 in five years. Lenora's recent attendance at an advertising and consumer conference generated new ideas and reinforced the value of solid brand marketing by organizations.

Jenny Dorsey - Director At Large 2010-2012 Jenny is a Sustainer member of the Cypress Creek Chapter in Region II, District 1. She is currently completing her second year on the NCL, Inc. Board of Directors as the Vice President of Membership and Standards. Her NCL, Inc. Board service has included serving on the Policies and Procedures, By-Law Revision, Budget and Finance, and Governance Committees while also leading the Membership Committee. Jenny served her Chapter and District in numerous offices including President, Membership VP, Ticktocker VP and two years as District Membership Specialist and District Director. Jenny’s interior design education coupled with her artistic talent compliments her strong organizational and communication skills. This background has benefited many parent/teacher, arts and special needs philanthropic organizations she has worked with as both a volunteer and board member, most notably a highly successful literacy program, Camp Read-A-Lot, as well as launching a program to allocate funds for technology upgrades, establishing guidelines for philanthropic donations and leading arts initiatives in the schools. Other organizations that have benefited from her leadership skills include the Natural Science Guild, Women’s Art League of Austin Texas, Girls Scouts and S.I.R.E. - Therapeutic Equestrian Center. Jenny now resides in Park City, Utah, where her past volunteer experiences are enriching the Park City community, especially the Arts-Kids, Inc. nonprofit. Jenny was selected to participate in the Leadership Park City program, which identifies and trains citizenry to assume community leadership roles. Jenny’s NCL experiences at the national, district, and chapter levels have provided a good understanding of how the unique characteristics of each Chapter contribute to the success of NCL on a more global scale, and she knows her knowledge, experience and commitment to NCL will continue to benefit the future of NCL. She is such a strong believer in NCL, Inc., that she has taken steps to establish a new expansion Chapter in her new community!

Lisa Brown- Director From Region I 2011-2013 Lisa is a member of the Dunwoody Chapter (Region I, District 14) where she enjoyed serving two terms as Vice President of Communications. Professionally, she is the Principal of Bullock Brown Creative Services, specializing in photography, creative and graphic design and print ad campaigns and collateral. Lisa also sits on the Board of Directors of a for-profit, family farming and land development business, currently serving as Board Chair. Prior to starting BBCS, Lisa was Chief Operating Officer for a travel, incentive and event management company, where she was instrumental in designing a web-based loyalty product that engendered multi-million dollar growth. Lisa's background includes executive management and consultation, international call and travel service center creation and operations, global contract negotiation, Fortune 100 client relations, business product design, information technology development and people development. With American Express TRS, Lisa managed Fortune 100 clients and global contracts and earned the President's Award for Operational Excellence before moving on to successful Executive management and management consultation roles with Thomas Cook and BTI. While attending Vanderbilt University, Lisa discovered a passion for the unchartered course. This quest for new frontiers of knowledge has led to a career rich in experience, travel and opportunity. From her early trips to iron-curtained Romania to business opportunities in the Grand Bazaar in Turkey, Lisa has studied cultural differences in business throughout her career. Lisa's involvement in her community has included several PTSO positions, a portrait photography project for under-privileged families and creating a three-year marketing campaign for her daughter's school that includes print advertisement, brochure and magazine publication as well as web development. She was a founding member and Board Officer of a Not-for-Profit Dog Breed Club and rescue organization.

Kim Depping - Vice President 2010-2012 Kim is a Sustainer member of the Livable Forest Chapter (Region II, District 10) where she has served as Membership VP and President. Kim’s NCL experiences include serving as the ECA for the Heart of Dallas Chapter, as the Senior Presentation Advisor to NCL, Inc., and the Region II representative to the NCL, Inc. Nominating Committee in 2006-2007 and again in 2008-2009. Kim looks forward to being an active chapter member again in two years when her youngest daughter becomes a Ticktocker. In addition to her NCL leadership experiences, Kim has extensive volunteer service in the nonprofit world serving on both local and national boards of a national women’s organization, WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Church of America), Parent Teacher Association (more than 10 years), and four years as a Girl Scout Leader. In all of these endeavors Kim has worn many hats from CEO to CFO to leadership trainer. In Kim’s words she has "committed a majority of my life to community service and will work to promote this culture within our organization to the best of my ability."

Julie Stackhouse - Director From Region III 2011-2013Julie Stackhouse is Senior Vice President and Managing Officer of Banking Supervision, Discount Window lending, and Community Affairs for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Prior to joining the St. Louis Fed in September 2002, Julie was Vice President and Managing Officer of the Risk Management Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. She also served as the Minneapolis Fed’s Community Affairs Officer. In addition, she was formerly an officer with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City prior to relocating to Minnesota in 1995. She served in many capacities in the Kansas City Banking Supervision and Risk Management areas, starting as an examiner in 1980. Julie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Drake University and a graduate of the Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking. She currently serves as a trustee on the St. Louis Area Board of the Missouri Council on Economic Education, on the Board of the Gateway Chapter of National Charity League, and as a national board member for National Charity League, Inc. In 2010, Julie was named a St. Louis Business Journal "Most Influential Business Women" recipient.

Karen Zarachoff - Director From Region V 2011-2013 Karen is a member of the San Fernando Valley Chapter, where she has served as President, Parliamentarian, Standards Chairman and 3rd VP-Philanthropy. She is an active member in SFV's Sustaining Groups, Advisory Council and SWANS, serving as SWANS Chairman for two years. She has remained an active member of her District, serving two years as District Parliamentarian followed by two years as District 3 Director. She has also served at the National level on the ISAC II Committee as the Region V Representative during the 2007-2008 year, which she considered to be a very informative and fulfilling experience. The success of this committee was the result of improved communications between the National Board of Directors and the Membership. Over the years, she has been involved at her church and school beginning when her children were very young and chairing several groups for mothers of preschool children and continuing on with the school in various PTO positions including President. For 10 years, she also co-chaired a year round tennis group for 150-180 women, with the proceeds directly benefitting the school. Professionally, she worked as a K-8 Physical Education Teacher/Athletic Director for 13 years and she is currently working hard at growing her gift and accessory company. She remains active in her community by dedicating many hours of hands-on volunteering at the West Valley Food Pantry. With each of these experiences she has gained knowledge and understanding which she brings to each new endeavor. She looks forward to serving on the National Board of Directors as the Region V Director.

Pam Johannsen - At-Large Director 2011-2013 Pam Johannsen is a sustaining member of the Fort Collins Chapter (Region III, District 11). In addition to guiding and nurturing the Chapters in District 11 as NDC over the least two years, she also has served on the District Council and as the ECA for two expansion Chapters: Colorado Blue Sky and Madison Area, the first chapter in the state of Wisconsin. Those experiences, coupled with serving on and chairing the National Nominating Committee, have provided her with a wealth of understanding of the NCL organization –from Chapter formation and chartering to corporate governance and living the mission. In the Fort Collins community, her philanthropy passion lies in those organizations targeting food insecurity -- the Food Bank for Larimer County and Meals on Wheels -- where she volunteers weekly. Most gratifying, however, is seeing her Sustainer Ticktocker actively engaged in serving the Portland, Oregon, community iwhere she resides.

Catherine Kauffman - At-Large Director 2011-2013 Catherine has been a member of the Scottsdale Chapter (Region III, District 8) since 2002. She has served as a Chapter President, Treasurer, and Grade Level Advisor and is now enjoying life as a Sustainer. At the District level, Catherine has served as District Director and Financial Specialist, and at the National level she has been a member of the National Nominating Committee. Outside of her NCL commitments, Catherine is busy with the Town of Paradise Valley serving on the Board of Adjustments and the Historical Committee. While her children were young, Catherine was involved in the Girls Scouts and served on her children’s school Association of Parents and Teachers. In her spare time, Catherine enjoys traveling, jogging and spending time with her family.

Michelle Pavliv - At-Large Director 2011-2013 Michelle Pavliv has been active in NCL for seven years. She is a founding board member of the Cardinal Chapter (Region I, District 14) in North Carolina, serving as Philanthropy Vice President, President and currently is enjoying being an active member of Cardinal’s first Sustainer group. She served the Chapters in North Carolina and Georgia for two years as Assistant District Director and is just completing her two year term as NDC. Additionally, for three years while she was on the District Council Michelle lent her skills as a National Trainer. In that capacity she helped developed and present NCL programming materials for District Meetings and the Annual Leadership Conference, and she has helped the organization venture into the world of online learning. As a trainer her goal was to pass on knowledge, skills and a renewed enthusiasm to serve NCL to the current and future leaders of the organization. A lifelong volunteer, Michelle has donated her talent and time to many organizations especially NCL and the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Michelle currently holds the role of Division Manager of Special Projects for the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic which has raised $15 million dollars for cancer research. She is also the founder and Tournament Director for the ESPN Pre-V for Cancer Research, raising over $700,000 since its inception 8 years ago.

Robin Doherty - Secretary 2011-2013 Robin hails from the Roswell-Alpharetta Chapter (Region I, District 14) where she has served in many leadership positions, including Membership Vice President and President. She was instrumental in the development of the District from its infancy and proudly served as District Director. Robin has served as a member of the NCL, Inc. Board since 2007 and has chaired both the Audit Committee and the National Ticktocker Committee. Serving on the National Nominating Committee was very rewarding to her. In 2003, the Roswell-Alpharetta Chapter honored Robin with the 'Susan Furick Award,' voted on by the Patronesses, recognizing her as the member who most exemplifies NCL. Professionally, Robin was employed as an international flight attendant for Canadian Pacific Airlines and managed a savings and loan for many years. Robin has been heavily involved with the Girl Scouts for many years, and was responsible for the fundraising efforts of a local private school, generating over $60,000 annually. She later served as Treasurer, President-Elect and President of the Parent Association of the school. Robin has also been involved with her local Junior League Chapter and remains involved with her local P.E.O. Chapter. Robin brings unparalleled enthusiasm and deep commitment to the mission and vision of NCL in all of her efforts.

Shawn Sylvia - Treasurer Shawn is honored to be a member of two National Charity League, Inc. chapters in Region IV, District 2. She started as a founding member of the Marin Chapter in 1999, where she served as Founding President for 2 years, VP Philanthropy, Grade Level Advisor and Corresponding Secretary. She later stepped up to serve NCL at the National level as District Parliamentary Specialist, District Director, Region IV representative on the National Nominating Committee and Convention Committee. Next Shawn joined the San Francisco Chapter where she has been Parliamentarian, VP Placement and Philanthropy Liaison. She still holds membership in both Chapters today. Shawn previously served on the NCL, Inc. Board of Directors from 2006 - 2008 as Region IV Director. During that term she chaired the initial Bridge Committee and sat on the Budget and Finance, Audit and Expansion Committees. She Chaired the National Nominating Committee in 2009 – 2010 and is currently a Board appointee on National Resource Development Task Force. Shawn’s other non-profit experience includes St. Hilary Parish Council, Junior League of San Francisco and Omaha (President) and Board service for Girl’s Inc., Clarkson Hospital Service League (Development) and Fontanelle Forest (President). Service on Guild and Parent Boards included Symphony, Community Playhouse, Leukemia Society, Children’s Home, Family Service, Opera, Easter Seals, Children’s Hospital, Century Club of California and Schools of the Sacred Heart. With a psychology degree and an MBA on her side, Shawn brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to this position, and is proud to continue serving the organization in this capacity and bringing members together to further the NCL mission.

Danice Lowry - Director From Region II Danice is a Sustainer member of the Cypress Creek Chapter in District 1, Region II. Her NCL experiences include current service as the District 1 At-Large District Specialist and previous service as the Ticktocker Specialist, Expansion Chapter Advisor to the Memorial Chapter since 2008, President, President-Elect, and Philanthropy VP to the Cypress Creek Chapter, and philanthropy liaison to the largest philanthropy supported by her Chapter. Beyond NCL, Danice has chaired Cotillion and Debutante Balls in her community and served as the President of a Junior Golf Association Club.

Ann Barry - Director From Region IV 2010-2012 Ann served as the President of her Ticktocker Class in 1973-74 in the Ventura Chapter (CA). After obtaining her degree in Applied Arts and Design, Ann worked as a buyer for Macy’s and Joseph Magnin. A founding member of the Crystal Springs Chapter in District 2, Region IV, Ann has served her Chapter as a philanthropy liaison, Provisional Chair and President-Elect, Chapter President, Past President, and VP of Provisional Members. Ann has served as the District 2 Membership Specialist and the National District Coordinator for District 2 for the past year. Beyond NCL, Ann has been an active participant in numerous school parent boards of directors, Little League Boards, and school foundation boards. Ann’s third generation Ticktocker is a member of the Class of 2011.

Kathy Crowe - Director At Large Kathy is a member of the Outer Banks Chapter in Region I, District 14 where she has served as Membership VP, District Leadership Spring Conference Location Coordinator and President. She served her district on the Nominating Committee and as Membership Specialist. She has been a member of NCL, Inc. for six years. Professionally Kathy has taught as a music educator for over 20 years and was presented with the Educational Excellence Award for 1991-92. She is currently working part-time in elementary music. Her love of education and the arts, coupled with her organizational skills, have benefited local schools where she has served on the high school Advisory Council and served as a Senior Project Evaluator. She spearheaded fundraising efforts for the middle school band as planner and coordinator for five years. Similarly, she initiated a cultural literacy program called March Musical Madness where primary school children were exposed to weekly informal live performances of various types of music ranging from classical to zydeco during the month of March. Kathy also volunteered for a literacy program called Hand to Hand as a tutor. Other local charities have taken advantage of her skills. Most notably, she served as entertainment coordinator for her local Hospice’s annual Festival of Trees and creator and director of an after school weekly program called Kidventure. Kathy is committed to the mission and vision of our organization and is excited to bring her skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to serve National Charity League, Inc.

NCL mother and daughter members volunteered a cumulative total of 966,056 hands-on hours directly with philanthropies in the 2008-2009 fiscal year.



Cakes for Women's Shelter:

NCL hosted a mother-daughter baking activity for the women and children residing in the Montgomery County Women's Center.
