Question:  What is required to join NCL?
The single requirement to be a member is “Compatibility”:  a willingness and ability to work in harmony with others to accomplish the NCL Mission.  The NCL, Inc. Mission is to foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.

Question:  What towns are included in the Orchard Valley Chapter?
Orchard Valley Chapter spans the towns of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Cupertino, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Santa Clara.  The general rule is that residency in one of these towns is required.  However, if your daughter attends school in the area, but your residence is elsewhere, exceptions can be granted.

Question:  I am currently a member of another NCL chapter.  Can I transfer to Orchard Valley Chapter?
If you move into the Orchard Valley district or your daughter changes schools and is now in the Orchard Valley district, you may simply transfer.   You will not pay initiation fees to Orchard Valley Chapter.  You will simply pay the annual dues.   If your location of residency or school has not changed, you can join the Orchard Valley Chapter after resigning from your current NCL chapter.   You will then rejoin NCL, joining into the Orchard Valley Chapter.  Unfortunately, per NCL guidelines, your initiation fees do not transfer with you.  You will be required to pay initiation fees to Orchard Valley Chapter.

Question:  When can the new 7th graders, Class of 2017, start?

You and your daughter are each required to participate in 20-30 hours per year.  The hours are broken down into philanthropy hours and service league hours (meetings, social events, etc.).  The exact number of hours will vary for mothers and the grade level of the daughters.  As part of your hours of contribution, all Patronesses (mothers) are required to join and contribute to one of the committees.  The current committees are:  Philanthropy, Communications, Social and Cultural, Membership, and Ticktockers.   You will log and track your hours on the NCL Orchard Valley Chapter website www.nclorchardvalley.org.
