Welcome to the West Lakes Chapter, National Charity League, Inc.

The NCL, Inc. Mission:

To foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.

By living that mission, NCL has been making a difference for many decades. For example, our Chapters provide the equivalent of nearly $18 million in volunteer hours annually in support of local philanthropies. Membership is a privilege and carries responsibilities beyond participation in a Chapter and involvement in a local community. The relationship between the National organization and the local Chapter members is mutually beneficial; it honors the prestige of a nationally recognized brand and provides for lifelong friendship and networking.

That is why consistency is the watchword of the NCL brand and is the foundation, structure and secret to assuring our ongoing success. By promoting the same identity across the country, NCL Chapters can own the strategic long range Vision of our organization, which is:

The NCL, Inc. Vision:

National Charity League, Inc. Chapters will be the premier mother-daughter organization in every state involved in valuable philanthropic, leadership, educational and cultural experiences so that all community volunteer needs are met.

It’s a bold Vision, but one that can be realized if everyone involved works together.

Membership in NCL gives mothers and daughters unique opportunities to strengthen their bond while growing together, sharing of themselves and improving their communities. Ours is the only National organization committed to fostering the mother-daughter relationship through philanthropic, leadership and cultural activities together and in peer groups.

NCL History and NCL Today Minimize

National Charity League History:
The modern National Charity League organization has its roots in 1925, when a small group of women in Los Angeles formed a group to engage in philanthropic work. These ambitious and dedicated women called themselves “The Charity League”, and a few of their daughters joined their mothers in their community work. One of these daughters was the future Mrs. Paul William Lawrence, considered the Founder of National Charity League.

The Charity League was reorganized and renamed National Charity League (NCL) in 1947. NCL incorporated on September 10, 1947 as a non-profit corporation organized solely for philanthropic, cultural and social purposes. NCL holds the distinction of being the original mother-daughter philanthropic organization. On April 2, 1958 the Los Angeles Chapter changed its name to National Charity League, Los Angeles Founder Chapter in order to pave the way for a new corporation of national significance. On that date National Charity League, Inc. was formed, with the primary purpose of establishing affiliated NCL chapters throughout the country.

NCL, Inc. Today:

With more than 50 years of experience, National Charity League, Inc. now includes 185 chapters and over 50,000 members throughout the United States.  The NCL experience inspires and empowers women to succeed as confident, well-rounded, and socially aware contributors in their communities.  Learn more about NCL at www.nationalcharityleague.org.  West Lakes Chapter is proud to be a part of this impactful, national organization.
