About Our Chapter

NCL, Inc., Golden Corridor Chapter is a group of mothers and daughters who have come together in a commitment to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.
Members shall reside in Richardson, North Dallas and Plano or the surrounding area including Carrollton, Frisco, and Allen. Like all NCL, Inc. Chapters, Golden Corridor aims to foster the mother-daughter relationship by serving its communities together.

For over 30 years, the Golden Corridor Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. has been a positive force in our community, through our dedication to philanthropic service, and fostering the development of strong character, leadership, and social responsibility in our daughters.

In late August and September of 1986, a group of women from Plano, Richardson and North Dallas attended organizational meetings and formed a prospective National Charity League, Inc. Chapter. Twenty mothers and twenty-one daughters decided to join together in this chapter. After only seven months, the Golden Corridor Chapter was granted provisional status in May 1987. The Chapter received its Charter just two years after holding their first meeting in October, 1988.

The NCL, Inc. Golden Corridor Chapter is in Region 2 which represents Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas and is composed of 64 chapters. We are in District 16 which has 13 chapters from the North Dallas area.

The NCL, Inc. Golden Corridor Chapter is located in the North Dallas area. Our members are from Richardson, North Dallas and Plano and the surrounding area including Carrollton, Frisco and Allen. We currently have nearly 300 mother-daughter members in grades 7 through 12 who perform almost 6,000 hours of hands-on volunteer service for 27 charities and non-profit organizations in the DFW community each year. Some of the community service areas supported by our chapter include: food pantries, the fine arts, senior citizen programs, healthcare, children and adults with special needs, animal shelters and the United Service Organizations.

We build capable, courageous leaders through opportunities to learn, reflect and develop. Our leaders become successful in their education, career and communities by learning the necessary skills during their NCL experience.

Each year, every Ticktocker class focuses on different aspects of leadership according to our 6-year plan. Beginning in 7th grade, the Ticktockers learn about the NCL, Inc. structure, committees, parliamentary procedures and core values. They practice team building as they develop relationships with their NCL, Inc. peers. In 8th grade they learn to communicate more effectively and lead their grade level meetings. As 9th graders, the girls learn about time management, consensus building and conflict resolution. The 10th grade Ticktockers strengthen working relationships, learn project management and practice event planning. In 11th grade the Ticktockers develop interview skills and verbal and written communication skills. They also learn about the college application process. Lastly, as seniors this class learns about independent living including managing finances as they prepare for their transition to college.

Each Ticktocker class has Officers and Committee Members representing their class. Every Ticktocker serves in a position each year with the opportunity to serve in an Officer position at least one time.

Cultural Experiences

We preserve National Charity League traditions and core values, while appreciating the growth that comes from connecting with different communities and cultures. We continually strive to build stronger ties with our communities and the individuals within them. It is through this understanding that we grow and develop broader worldviews that will shape and support our lives.

NCL Inc., strives to create an environment that nurtures positive identity by recognizing and appreciating the value of differences in each other and the world. Exposure to culturally diverse peoples and events broadens perspective, promotes awareness and teaches cultural sensitivity. Participation in cultural activities also teaches members etiquette, graciousness, self-assuredness in social settings, good manners and respect of others.
