Our Commitment

National Charity League, Inc. (NCL, Inc.) is committed to the development of mothers and daughters as leaders and is dedicated to improving local communities through hands-on volunteerism. The NCL Experience inspires and empowers women to succeed as confident, well-rounded and socially aware contributors to society.

How the Program Works

Mothers (Patronesses) and daughters (Ticktockers) participate in a six-year core program of community service, leadership development, and cultural activities. Members who continue their affiliation with the organization are Sustainers.

Community Service

Each NCL, Inc. Chapter promotes social awareness by considering the local community’s needs and selecting appropriate non-profit organizations to serve. Each Chapter then supports its philanthropic partners through hands-on volunteer activities. Chapters are not permitted to fundraise on behalf of other non-profits, but they may raise money, which they may give back to the philanthropic partners through cash or in-kind contributions. Some of the areas supported by local Chapters include:

  • Disadvantaged children’s agencies
  • Soup kitchens/food pantries
  • Performing arts institutions and programs
  • Convalescent hospitals and Senior citizens centers/Day care centers
  • Children’s hospitals
  • Women’s health initiatives
  • Military veterans organizations

Leadership Development

The leadership development pillar of NCL, Inc. affords opportunities for members to engage in experiences that build essential skills, such as:

  • Confidence
  • Consensus building
  • Team building
  • Conflict resolution
  • Event planning
  • Parliamentary procedure
