Did you know our Newport Chapter was the 4th chapter founded,
and to date, there are 148 chapters nationwide?
- 1958: Articles of Incorporation of Newport Chapter of the National Charity League were signed.
- The first social activity of our Chapter was a Tea, a tradition we continue today.
- 1959: The Ticktocker Thrift Shop opened its doors.
- 1960: The "End of the Rainbow" luncheon was started.
- 1961: The first annual National Charity League, Newport Chapter, Debutante Ball was held at
the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. We were the second NCL chapter to hold a debutante ball.
- 1965: The John Tracy Clinic was our initial Chapter Philanthropy.
- 1965: The Newport Chapter hosted the National Charity League Convention.
- 1967: The Thrift Shop almost burned down due to a painter's drop cloth left on a floor furnace.
- 1969: Sustaining members formed our first Sustainer group - Caramigas.
- 1971: The Thrift Shop moved to its 19th Street location.
