Arbor Award honors mother-daughter service group in Memorial

Trees for Houston honored the National Charity League Inc.’s Memorial Chapter with one of its annual Arbor Award for its members planting and preserving of trees throughout the city.
Members of the mother-daughter philanthropic group planted more than 70 trees at various schools throughout the city in the last year.
Vice President of Philanthropy Holly Roberts accepted the award on behalf of the chapter.
“We are honored to receive this award,” said Dionne Kubin, NCL Memorial chapter president, who was also at the ceremony held in May. “Trees for Houston is a great organization and we love working with them to make our city a better place.”
Trees for Houston is a nonprofit Houston organization dedicated to planting, protecting and promoting trees. Trees for Houston has planted and distributed more than 400,000 trees and seedlings.
NCL’s Memorial chapter currently has 364 members and provides hands-on volunteer service for 15 philanthropic organizations in the community. Through this community service, NCL develops social responsible community leaders and strengthens the mother-daughter relationship. The traditional NCL program also includes cultural awareness and experiences. To date NCL has a total of 160 chapters in 17 states.
